Shasta High’s snowboard team won the overall California Nevada Interscholastic Ski and Snowboard Federation state championship Tuesday at Northstar at Tahoe.

Shasta High's Sage Will finished third in the girls giant slalom snowboard race Monday at the CNISSF state championships at Northstar at Tahoe.

The Wolves won with 1,315 points, besting second-place Mammoth (1,218) and third-place Nevada Union (1,188).

Shasta tied for first in the men’s snowboard team standings with Mammoth and was fourth in the girls snowboard competition. Foothill was 12th, Enterprise was 15th and Red Bluff 18th.

Mount Shasta High’s girls snowboard team won the girls team title thanks to Tate Harkness leading the all-state snowboarders with the top spot with 239 points. Harkness won Monday’s giant slalom race in first place and was second in the slalom race Tuesday (1 minute, 27.23) behind Shasta High’s Sage Will (1:19.63).

Will was third Monday and collected 238 overall points to finish second in the state. Shasta High’s Makenzie Fleming made the all-state team at 10th with 220 points.

Other notable finishes for area competitors in Tuesday’s slalom event included Mount Shasta’s Emelia Crockett, who was 12th (1:39.93), Red Bluff’s Ellie Miller in 13th (1:40.22), Shasta’s Fleming in 15th (1:42.02), Enterprise’s Jacquelyn Hardy in 18th (1:49.66) and Mount Shasta’s Madison Sagar in 19th (1:50.71).

Shasta tied for first in the boys snowboard team title while Foothill was ninth, Enterprise was 14th and Red Bluff was 18th. Chico’s Flynn Davis is the top male snowboarder in the state, winning both giant slalom and slalom races for 240 points.

Local riders placed second through fourth in the state. Foothill’s Justin Youngman was the top area competitor, taking second (237 points), followed by Shasta’s Kyle Gardiner (235) and Dylan Wakeland (233).

For the boys slalom race Tuesday, the North D-I had the second through fourth place riders, who all finished within a half of a second of each other. Wakeland was second (1:21.23), Youngman was third (1:21.24) and Gardiner was fourth (1:21.44).

Shasta’s Marc Speake was 14th (1:32.76) and was the only other area finisher in the top 20.

In Monday results, Mount Shasta’s Harkness finished first in the giant slalom race with a two-run time of 1:57.11. Shasta High’s Will was third in 2:01.63, Shasta’s Fleming was seventh (2:04.89), Red Bluff’s Miller was 11th (2:10.05), Enterprise’s Hardy was 15th (2:12.67) and Mount Shasta’s Crockett was 16th (2:12.86).

In the boys giant slalom results from Monday, Foothill’s Youngman led the North Division I racers with a second-place finish in 1:48.92. Shasta High’s Gardiner was third (1:49.64) and Wakeland was seventh (1:51.41).
